I took Nolan to JC Penney's for his 6 month portraits (primarily because I had a coupon for $2.99 sheets and a free 8x10) He was a bit nervous around the photographer and was grumpy because we waited soo long and it was freakin' hot in there....He was hungry too since it took so long...so there were only a few pictures I actually liked. For the first time since I've had professional portraits (since Jill's birth) I spent nearly nothing. I rarely spend less than $100. This time my pictures were $30.
Jenna has had some major problems with her eyes as you can see from the picture here. Suddenly her one eye started crossing in. I took her to the ophthalmologist and she found her to be EXTREMELY far sighted. She ended up with an extremely high prescription, but the doctor said every year it will be reduced and MAYBE by the time she's a teen, her vision will be nearly perfect. It was hard to find glasses to fit her narrow face, but these ones are very cute; they are a pale pink color with little dog prints on the arms (they are hush puppies brand). The picture does not do her justice though. She is not giving me any trouble wearing them either (I can't BELIEVE it!)
Why Bud wanted a big ole' TV is beyond me, but I won't complain. I am the one who chooses what to watch and when. :-) The entertainment center is new too of course since we couldn't accomodate a 52 inch TV.
Of course Nolan couldn't do eggs, but I had to get a picture of him with some. I took a very similar picture of Nathan the same way when Nate was only 5 or 6 months old....
The girls couldn't wait to do eggs, but then looked less than enthused when they started. Perhaps they were just concentrating on perfecting the eggs. I surprised them by using that crayon with the kit to make decorations or names on them. When they dyed the egg, it revealed the design...that about sums up the excitement of the egg coloring. Nate didn't really care much about it until I convinced him to do one, then he wanted them all for himself!
The kids enjoyed their Easter. They received baskets with pajamas, Ty 2.0 beanie babies, sunglasses, stuffed puppy, chocolate bunny and peeps. They had a easter egg hunt with Megan later in the day. Then too, they received many goodies from their grandma and papa.
Nolan is six months old and growing like a weed. He was just over 16 lbs. at his check up last week and 27 inches long. He is nearly sitting up on his own and is starting to make "ma-ma, ba-ba, da-da" type sounds. He is still as pleasant as pleasant can be and sleeping alittle longer at night (sometimes). He is eating all sorts of jar foods and is drinking water from a sippy cup. I took his monthly picture on the couch with and without the hat, but I think he looks a bit like a girl with it on. I just love, though, how much this outfit shows off his baby blue eyes. My grandma sent the outfit for him and he's only worn it once. It barely fit him, so I doubt I'll get a second wearing out of it....kinda sad to think about my baby growing so quickly!
Took the kids on Monday to see the Easter Bunny. They were so good! A stranger approached me even and complimented the kids on how well they behaved. It makes me feel good to know that I am doing something right!
I think that this guy is awesome. I know that there are many people out there that appreciate teachers and what they do, but there are many who need reminding. Teaching can be stressful and is hard work. The most disrespected I've ever felt came directly from a parent whose child I was willing to help. Yet, all I hear about is what I make and how much time I get off. Few think about the time I spend at home correcting work, or the hours searching the net for new exciting things to show and teach kids or the hundreds of dollars of MY OWN money I spend to buy supplies, crafts and treats for my class or that many parents expect me to take more time to work with their child than my own (yes, I have four kids who need my attention and I do have a life outside of school). Don't forget I've already gone to college for four years for my BA, then two more for my MA and will continue to take classes for as LONG AS I continue to teach (because I am REQUIRED TO, not because I want to)....this too is paid from my own pocket. Thanks to those parents who understand and respect their children's teachers. I've had a rough week, even with the blessing of a snow day, sorry I needed to vent.
I'm a proud mom of four--Jillian, Jenna, Nathan and Nolan. I love scrapbooking, photography and getting the most out of my computer...Oh yeah--I teach too!
